Baby T is ONE!

This adorable little fella kills me with his suave personality. I just love the expressions on his face and how he plays it so cool for ONLY BE ONE! He is gonna be a very popular boy as he grows up with the ladies. Just adorable!

R Family Photos

I have had the pleasure of taking pictures of this family twice now and both times were an absolute blast! There is nothing better then connecting with a family when you are taking their pictures. I couldn't believe how big little N had gotten after seeing him when he was only a few weeks old the first time. Big sis was a blast to be around, as always. She lights up a room with her brilliant personality and high energy.

What a beautiful family! Very easy to take pictures of and a treat to be around.

We are framed and on the way....

After a week and a half the studio is now completely framed! The electrical is going on this weekend and then drywall!!!! I am so excited about the progress and cannot wait for it to be up and running, finally!

Brian is the brains behind the operation working very hard to do a spectacular job of the room. I have to introduce his dog Lucy - she comes to work with him everyday and she has simply lit up our lives. My kids go nuts for her! she is the most well behaved, chilled and adorable doggie I have ever seen. She is a beautifully natured and well loved girl. I rarely see her leave Brian's side, it is so adorable. I decided to capture a few pics of her to post on my blog and was soon introduced to a very coy side of her. She would turn her head and shy away from the camera - the pic posted is the closest I could get to her adorable face. Just love her!

Will keep you posted on more studio updates.

Newborn shoots

Parents are always curious as to when the best time is to bring their newborn baby in for their first photo shoot. In the past I was suggesting the first 3 weeks of life, however my opinion has now changed. In order to achieve the easiest and cutest shoot, I suggest parents bring their baby within the first 4 days of life. I, being a parent myself, understand that this isn't always as easy as it sounds, especially for those that are new to parenthood and a little nervous about bringing their baby out of the house for the first month. Here is why I suggest this. Within the first 4 days of life babies have a bending and flexibility that slowly is lost as they get bigger. At this time babies will sleep through most of the shoot (a photographers dream!) as well as won't be hesitant to kick out their legs or want to be picked up and cuddled. They are content being cuddled up into a basket or prop and love to be curled up into a tiny little ball - which offers the parents priceless photos.

The photos taken here were with a baby who was 4 days old and the shoot was quite successful!

The name...behind the name

I have been asked a million times where the name alyak came from? well, I thought what better way then to unveil the name on my new blog.

First off the name is pronounced (A-Lay-Ik) not (Al-e-ak) haha.

The name comes from my daughter (since she was the reason behind me opening my business) her name is Makayla - so alyak is Kayla backwards. We call her Kayla for short.

There you have it. The name....behind the name!

Welcome.....

Hello and welcome to my blog. I am very excited about creating this blog because it gives me an excuse to keep up with my newest shoots and posting pictures for everyone to see, including my clients. I am even more excited that you are willing to tag along and look through my work.

Alyak studio is a family photography studio located in Newmarket, ON. I specialize in maternity, family, newborn baby and toddlers - that is my niche. However, I have shot weddings, engagement photos, product photography as well as headshots and food photography. I love photography period.

I have been practicing photography for as long as I can remember but didn't start my "business" until 4 years ago when my daughter Makayla was born. At this point, I left my career in IT at Canadian Tire Corporation after 5 wonderful years and jumped right into the world of photography, working out of my home studio - I have never been happier! There is nothing better then turing your beloved hobby into a business.

I want to thank you again for showing interest in my blog/work/business and appreciate the support. I will do my best to keep up to date with all the new things that go in the studio.

Welcome to my studio.
